Man, I love my restaurants in San Antonio. It’s one of the perks of living here, and I especially love the Mexican food.
Seriously, if you go as north as Dallas, the mexican food gets terrible. San Antonio has a ton of other great restaurants, too, but this really is some of the best Tex-Mex and Authentic Mexican food anywhere in the United States. Seriously!
There are almost too many great Mexican food places to mention, but I can start with a favorite of ours -
If you’re in the mood for a fantastic margarita, head down to La Fogata. You’ll be surrounded by nice plants and a friendly staff in a unique atmosphere. Don’t forget to check out the “celeb wall” with folks like Bill Clinton posing at this gem of a spot. This place is a freakin’ Institution. I don’t care if you read this page 10 years from now, it’ll still be there.
If you’re looking for one of SA’s best burger joints, I have to hands-down recommend Chris Madrid’s on Blanco. This ain’t no stinking health joint, I’ll tell you that, but if you’re in the mood for a delicious burger try “The Macho” on for size. It’s funny, when we go eat there for lunch during the week days we make sure to get there before 11:15, ’cause that’s when the line starts! Chis Madrid’s attracts hungry folks from all over the city, and they even sell a lot of t-shirts… people like to show off that they’ve been there.
We also recently went to Boudro’s Texas Bistro on the Riverwalk… good blackened steak!
